Hospital Bag Checklist for Baby: What Diapers to Bring & Newborn Essentials
What to Pack in Your Hospital Bag for Baby
You're in the final stretch of pregnancy and it's time to pack that hospital bag. While the hospital provides some basics, bringing your own carefully chosen items means your newborn gets the safest, softest start to life. Here's exactly what to pack β and why your diaper choice matters from day one.

Diapers: Bring Your Own
Hospitals provide diapers, but they're typically basic, fragrance-laden brands. If you want your newborn's very first diapers to be chemical-free and gentle, bring a small pack of CuddleKin newborn bamboo diapers. Your baby's brand-new skin deserves the softest, safest start.
Clothing Checklist
Pack 2-3 newborn onesies or sleepers with snap closures (zips can irritate fresh skin), a going-home outfit, socks or booties, a hat (newborns lose heat through their heads), and a warm blanket or swaddle. Bamboo onesies are ideal because they're thermoregulating β warm in the cold hospital room, cool if your baby runs warm.
Skincare Basics
Bring fragrance-free wipes, a gentle baby lotion (or coconut oil), and nappy rash cream. Hospital-provided products often contain fragrances and chemicals you may want to avoid.

Comfort Items
A swaddle blanket (muslin or bamboo), a dummy or pacifier if you plan to use one, and a car seat (required before the hospital will discharge you). Some parents also bring a special blanket or stuffed animal for first photos.
For Feeding
If bottle feeding, bring bottles, formula, and a bottle brush. If breastfeeding, pack a nursing pillow, nipple cream, and nursing pads. The hospital typically provides a breast pump to try before buying your own.
Don't Overpack
Your hospital stay will be 1-3 days. Pack for that timeframe, not a week. Focus on comfort and safety essentials, and have a partner ready to bring anything else you need.
