The actual chemistry that matters: 1) TCF (totally chlorine free) processing — no chlorine bleach residue. 2) Fragrance-free — no synthetic perfumes that mask scent at the cost of skin irritation. 3) Lotion-free — no aloe or other added skin lotions that can sensitize. 4) Plant-based or rayon-based topsheet — softer than petroleum-based polypropylene. 5) Dermatologist-tested — actual patch-testing on infant skin, not just adult skin. What is TCF and why does it matter?
TCF = Totally Chlorine Free. Conventional diapers use elemental chlorine to bleach the wood pulp white; trace dioxins and chlorine compounds remain in the finished diaper. TCF processes use oxygen-based bleaching instead, leaving zero chlorine residue.
